On 18 Jan 2024, we visited the Scottish Parliament welcoming our new Parliamentary Internship Programme interns to their role.

We had an absolutely wonderful time meeting Chief Executive David McGill, Deputy Presiding Officer Annabelle Ewing MSP, some of the internship host MSPs, such as Maggie Chapman and Liam Kerr, watching the First Minister’s Questions, quizzing staff from SPICe and the clerking team, as well as getting a private tour through parliament itself.

Our new interns will now start their placements in their respective MSPs’ parliamentary and constituency offices up until April. They have been placed with MSPs from Scottish National Party, the Scottish Conservatives , the Scottish Labour Party and the Scottish Green Party.

A heartfelt thank you to David McGill and the Scottish Parliament for hosting us from all of us at the John Smith Centre!

Our interns have relished the opportunity to not only get an insight into the works of parliament, but also in meeting MSPs and key figures in Scotland’s political system. We can’t wait to see them in action!
