MENTORS WANTED FOR MINORITY ETHNIC EMERGING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

As part of the John Smith Centre Minority Ethnic Emerging Leaders Programme, we are looking for mentors from minority ethnic backgrounds with experience of working within the public and/or third sectors who are passionate about helping young people develop and nurture their leadership potential.

What is the Minority Ethnic Emerging Leaders Programme?

The John Smith Centre Minority Ethnic Emerging Leaders Programme is a professional and personal development opportunity for up 50 people between the ages of 18 – 29 from minority ethnic backgrounds across Scotland.

The Programme will run from September 2021 to November 2022.

Funded by the Scottish Government, the programme will provide young people with a part-time internship for 9 months with a public sector organisation, a voluntary sector organisation or an NGO.

Mentoring Overview

The focus of this mentoring programme will be to increase the mentees competence and confidence, as well as developing their broader leadership skills for personal or career development. The mentor may share with a mentee information about his or her own career path, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modelling.

Expenses for local travel and meetings subsistence will be covered by the John Smith Centre.
