The John Smith Centre is delighted to welcome Dr Elisabeth Loose as Research and External Engagement Officer.

Elli’s key responsibilities include managing and curating the Centre’s external communications. As such, she will work towards implementing a comprehensive communication strategy in collaboration with the Centre’s stakeholders, academics and external guests. This includes, but is not limited to, creating content for the website, social media platforms and various publicity channels, organizing diverse online and physical events as well as increasing our reach and network with organizations and individuals across the United Kingdom who align with the Centre’s mission.

Additionally, her role includes developing and maintaining the Cnetre’s online Research Hub by identifying and summarizing pivotal research in the field of politics and public service, aligning with the Centre’s overarching purpose, and horizon scanning to stay abreast of key developments and opportunities that align with the John Smith Centre’s mission, further enhancing its impact and influence in the political landscape.

I am trhilled to be working for the John Smith Centre and can’t wait to get stuck in. The Centre’s cause is an important one and I am looking forward to spreading its message far and wide.

Previously, Elli worked for a small creative agency in Glasgow which provides digital and print services to third sector organisations and research centres. As their Digital Marketing Manager and Values Lead she advised a variety of clients on their communication strategy and led on building their website, managing their social media and creating branded & print assets. Additionally, she build a handful of online courses for learning and information sharing purposes. Before that, Elli completed an MSc, MLitt and her PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Glasgow, all within the social sciences.

Outside work, Elli is on the board of the Scottish Women’s Budget Group and a branch officer for the Women’s Equality Party in Glasgow. She loves reading non-fiction books as well as escaping reality with a great fantasy book. She describes herself as a nerd for jigsaw puzzles, loves eating Spaghetti and is a big fan of musical theatre and classical concerts.
