The John Smith Centre was delighted to be part of Scotland’s Women GatHER at the Scottish Parliament on 24 June 2023.
Organised in partnership between Elect Her and the Scottish Parliament, the free one-day event consisted of workshops, activities and panel discussions encouraging women to feel supported and empowered to stand for elected office, whatever stage of their political journey they are on.
Elect Her is a non-partisan organisation that supports women of all ages and backgrounds from across the UK to stand for political office.
We were delighted to meet so many of the 300 women who attended a share information about how the John Smith Centre could support them on their own personal political journeys.
Watch the Chamber Plenary Session hosted by Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone and featuring a speech from Talat Yaqoob, a commissioned poem performed by Makar Kathleen Jamie, Cross-party MSP panel discussions and audience Q&A, and songs from Maryhill Integration Network’s Joyous Choir.
