The John Smith Centre’s Director Kezia Dugdale is set to take on additional responsibilities at the University of Glasgow as its newly appointed Professor of Practice in Public Service.
Working with colleagues in the College of Social Science, she’ll undertake a senior leadership role enhancing connections with political and public policy figures, government departments and organisations to develop and support the growth of applied research, engagement and impact rooted in the School of Social and Political Science’s world-class research.
For the past two years she has undertaken a number of teaching activities including Co-Convening the Honours Course on Youth Policy with Dr Mark Wong. She will continue to make a substantial contribution to enhancing learning and teaching within the School and beyond in the wider community. This will include further developing the John Smith Centre’s focus on experiential learning and embedding graduate attributes in the curriculum. She’ll continue to champion and develop paid, structured internships for young people in public life, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Finally she will have a broader role in promoting policy, business, government and organisational relationships in ways that enhance the reputation of the School and the University, build trust in politics and public service and strengthen the School’s leading role in studying and enhancing public policy, outreach and public understanding.
She remains Director of the John Smith Centre.
