Stewart McDonald was elected to the UK Parliament in 2015 as the MP for Glasgow South.
Following the 2017 General Election, he was named the Scottish National Party’s Defence Spokesperson and has sat on the Foreign Affairs Select Committee since 2019.
He has a strong interest in human rights, combating disinformation and LGBTI equality.
His focus on the fair work agenda also saw him bring forward a Bill to Parliament aiming to ban unpaid work trials, an issue affecting many students and graduates.
The John Smith Centre exists to make the positive case for politics and public service. In this Power Hour session with Kezia Dugdale, they discuss how the role of an MP has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, how Parliament has adapted and what hopes Mr McDonald has for the future.
