Our councils make decisions that will affect us all on an almost daily basis – are your bin collections fortnightly or three weekly? Can you drink alcohol in your local park? Do we need more taxis?

Local councillors make these decision every week, and as the results of the local elections are being digested and potential coalitions are formed in some councils, what does it take to make this a success?

We were delighted to be joined by Alison Evison, the former President of COSLA and newly elected independent councillor in Mearns, Aberdeenshire.

She explained the highs and lows of working as a councillor, and what the challenges will be for the next term will be.
